Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has visited the islands of Kaafu atoll Kaashidhoo and Alif Alif atoll Thoddoo.
The two islands are locally renowned as agriculturally heaviest resident islands.
The minister visited Kaashidhoo to take part in discussions with the island's Council.
The Council had commenced a major initiative to transform the island's agricultural activities; to adopt more technologically driven concepts.
Members of the council and Kaashidhoo's Women's Development Committee members had discussed about the growth and progress of the island's agricultural activities with the minister.
Furthermore, the minister had acquired information about the policies utilized by the council to administer the transition from conventional agricultural methods to more contemporary approaches.
On the other hand, Minister Dr. Hassan visited Thoddoo to assess the challenges faced by local farmers with regards to water scarcity and shortage.
Dr. Hassan had met with Thoddoo's Council authority to discuss fresh approaches to resolve the issues faced by local farmers.
In addition to the minister, the Project Consultant of the ministy-led "Accelerating Sustainable System-development Using Renewable Energy (ASSURE)", Dr. Ahmed Shukury had also visited the islands as part of the ministry's entourage.
The minister along with his entourage visited several farm sites in Kaashidhoo to assess they sustained amid the ongoing rainy season.
