Convicted former Prosecutor General Muhthaz Muhusin was discharged from ADK Hospital on Tuesday and transferred back to Maafushi Prison.
He had received one of his routine injections for a spinal problem and was hospitalised for a week, according to his family.
The former prosecutor general was found guilty of forging an arrest warrant for President Abdulla Yameen and sentenced to 17 years in 2016.
He has been allowed periodic shifts to the hospital for medical treatment during his incarceration, which began after his family filed at the authorities claiming that Maldives Correctional Services were allegedly neglecting Muhthaz's medical needs.
This was his third injection since his incarceration. He had also spent two weeks for physiotherapy in ADK Hospital last August.
Muhthaz's family had recently claimed that his condition was worsening, and that he was in danger of developing a physical disability. They called on Correctional Services and related authorities to treat Muhthaz humanely and without discrimination.
