Chief Justice Ahmed Mu'uthasim Adnan has said that the Maldives judiciary is committed to upholding the principles of law and order with utmost integrity.

He made these remarks while officiating the "Courtah Faritha" (Familiar with the Courts) awareness campaign, which is a joint initiative led by the American Bar Association and US AID.

While officiating the ceremony, the Maldivian Chief Justice emphasized the significance of the judiciary's work and stressed that the establishment of law and order requires the collective efforts of all members of society.

"Our aim is to provide justice and resolve the cases presented before us with utmost integrity, while ensuring the preservation of everyone's rights," Adnan said.

"With our work, we serve the community with integrity. We listen to both sides of the case, refer to the available laws and acts, and interpret them to find the best possible solution that ensures the protection of the rights of everyone involved."

According to the Chief Justice, one of the most crucial aspects of the judiciary is to raise public awareness about the services available to them when seeking justice and to ensure that those services are easily accessible.

“We must ensure that the courts provide support or educate the public when necessary, and the public should be aware of the services the courts provide. They should be aware of the quickest route to finding the resolve to their issues, and we must assist them in their needs,” Adnan added.

The Chief Justice expressed optimism that the awareness campaign would enhance the public's understanding of the courts and the services they provide. He anticipated that this increased knowledge would enable the public to benefit from the services and resources offered by the courts more effectively in the future.

"The Courtah Faritha hashtag marks the beginning of an important initiative," the Chief Justice stated.

According to the Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna, the objective of the campaign is to enhance public awareness about the courts and their operations. Rizna believes that by increasing the public's understanding of the court's procedures and work, the campaign will lead to a reduction in complaints and an increase in overall satisfaction.

"The main challenge for the public is the lack of knowledge about the procedures to follow after filing a case and the difficulties they encounter in obtaining this information. This campaign aims to address these issues and provide clarity," Rizna said.
