US Agency for International Development (USAID) amends bilateral assistance agreement to Foreign Ministry of Maldives on Tuesday to increase the assistance provided to Maldives by USD 3.2 million.
The increase would result in a total of USD 25 million to Maldives by USAID.
The USAID Mission Director to Maldives Reed Aeschliman said this would enable US to advance with US-Maldives priorities especially in terms of climate change and the environment.
“This agreement is a concrete demonstration of the growing partnership we share with the government and people of Maldives," Aeschliman said.
The bilateral agreement between the two countries was initially signed on March 12, 2019. US' bilateral assistance has been used to improve Maldives' public financial management, strengthen rule of law, support decentralization efforts, in addition to protecting the environment as well.
