Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday congratulated President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on his party's success in the Parliamentary Elections held on April 6.
During the phone call, President Solih thanked Prime Minister's well wishes.
President Solih stated that he was humbled by the extensive support shown to the government by the people and that he is not even more committed to delivering the electoral pledges.
The Prime Minister spoke fondly of the long-existing friendship between the countries. He expressed eagerness to cooperate on a range of bilateral issues, particularly in tourism, increasing bilateral and regional trade and private sector collaboration.
Furthermore, President Solih sends good wishes and sent advance greetings for a Happy Sinhala and Tamil New Year to both Prime Minister and President of Sri Lanka.
During the parliamentary elections, leading party Maldivian Democratic Party (MD) secured 67 out of 87 seats, becoming the majority party in the parliament.
