Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed on Sunday that the search for the staff member who disappeared from JW Marriott Maldives Resort and Spa, Haa Alif Atoll, last Monday is still ongoing.
The Coast Guard formerly disclosed that the 30-year-old Indian national, who was working as an Imam, the leader of prayer congregations, jumped into the ocean from the resort's supply jetty while on a phone call. Authorities further noted that CCTV footage provided evidence for this statement.
According to MNDF, he was wearing a white shirt with grey pants when he jumped into the sea. MNDF requested any vessels travelling in the area to alert the authorities if they acquire any information regarding the missing individual.
Last Thursday, MNDF noted that an area of 150,000 square meters was searched in a total of three dives. Moreover, Coast Guard also scanned an area of 48.5 million square meters on the surface.
