Judicial Service Commission (JSC), on Tuesday, filed a motion in Parliament to dismiss Juvenile Court Judge Abdul Bari Yoosuf.

JSC previously noted that it was investigating disciplinary issues of the judge in connection to the graft of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), in addition to investigating allegations of falsifying his asset declaration.

Judge Bari remains temporarily suspended by JSC since December 12, 2019, over the police investigation into the matter.

Investigations also revealed that Judge Bari maintained close ties with former vice president Ahmed Adeeb, who was convicted in the MMPRC case.

Judge Bari previously sat on the bench of the Criminal Court, where he presided over several cases involving high profile politicians. He was abruptly transferred to the Juvenile Court in 2017.

Several members of the judiciary are also accused of benefitting from the MVR 4 billion embezzled from MMPRC.
