The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has stated that the outstanding bills from previous months will not be included in the new utility bill issued by the State Electric Company (STELCO).
WAMCO will begin including waste collection fees in STELCO’s utility bills effective Saturday, April 1, 2023.
The charges have been combined into a single bill to resolve the issue of outstanding payments to WAMCO by customers. An official from the corporation speaking with Mihaaru news said that customers with outstanding bills can still settle them through ‘AvasPay’.
"Any previous outstanding bill will not be tied to the STELCO utility bill," they said.
Since WAMCO will tie its charges to STELCO’s bill, the corporation has urged all registered residences to update their information. The corporation said that all customers are required to submit the "Utility Metre Exclusion Form" to exclude maintenance, service, booster bump, and telecom metres from WAMCO's billing list.
WAMCO further requested companies managing commercial residential complexes to fill out and submit the "Primary Metre Identification and Grouping Form".
Businesses and institutions that are registered customers with WAMCO must fill out the "Information Update Form" and submit it before April 6, 2023; failure to do so will result in service cancellation.
WAMCO will charge a Household Waste Collection Service Fee of MVR 4.93 per day for the STELCO bill duration.
Additionally, the corporation assured that waste fees would not be charged on idle electricity metres.
