In his inaugural address to the nation, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that today marks an end to any form of interference from the government in judicial proceedings.

President Muizzu asserted that his administration will ensure separation of powers and the autonomy of the three branches of the State.

"That said, this does not mean in any way that the administration will turn a blind eye to criminal activity including grand corruption. The government interfering in the judiciary ends right now, from this very moment on,” he said.

The President said today that the government's fundamental development policies will be based on two aspects; structural development and human development.

"In other words, we will focus on building homes, defence structures, roads, jetties, offices, as well as on building a community of people with good discipline and sound judgement," he explained.

"So this involves developing the nation's land as well as the nation's minds. This administration's goal is to bring about these two kinds of development hand in hand," he said.

He emphasized his administration’s intentions to instill knowledge, morals, discipline, religious values, and skills in the youth.

"Today is the day, after a long time, that Maldivians have finally set sail to return to Maldivians' own nation," the President declared.
