Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has said that the law will be amended to dissolve the Hulhumale' Court even if the Supreme Court does not review the previous case.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2012, that the Hulhumale' Court was legitimate.
Judicial Service Commission (JSC) had recently appealed to the Supreme Court to review this ruling which has been denied by the current Supreme Court bench.
Attorney General Riffath, who is also a member of JSC, tweeted that the Hulhumale' Court was established for political purposes and that the supreme court ruling was illegitimate.
However, Riffath did not comment on the decision of the current Supreme Court bench, saying the law will be amended to improve "obvious injustice".
The Hulhumale' Court case was previously on blast after former President Mohamed Nasheed was charged at the court in 2012 over the detention of former Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed. Nasheed was charged with terrorism at the Criminal Court in 2015 after the state withdrew the case.
