Dhiraagu said today that registration for the fifteenth edition of Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR), which will feature a new 5K Team Event category; Office/Resorts.
Dhiraagu announced today that registrations are now open for the fifteenth edition of the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR), which will, for the first time, include a new 5K Team Event category specifically for Office/Resort teams.
The company said that by introducing this new category, they aim to provide employees from various resorts and offices with the opportunity to participate in the run as a team, allowing them to represent their respective institutions in a competitive environment.
The newly introduced Office/Resorts category at the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race allows teams of four to represent their offices and resorts. All resorts, government institutions, state-owned enterprises, and private sector employees are eligible to register 4-member teams to represent their respective organizations.
A fee of MVR 250 is charged from each team seeking participation in the run.
Winners in the Office/Resorts category will be determined based on the total time tallied by each team member. Each participant is given the standard 5K Team Event timeframe of 45 minutes to complete the race.
A prize pool of MVR 10,000 has been allocated for the champions of the Office/Resorts category, while the runner-up team will receive MVR 8,000. The third-place team will be awarded a prize of MVR 6,000.
DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives, officially registered in AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and listed in the AIMS World Running calendar.
The marathon is dedicated to raising funds for a social cause each year, and this year’s event will once again focus on child protection. Proceeds from the registration fees will be allocated to NGOs working in the field of child protection.
Dhiraagu stated that registrations will remain open until the event reaches a total of 4,000 participants.
This year's Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is scheduled to take place on October 25, 2024, Friday, at Hulhumale' Central Park.
