Two judges appointed to the High Court bench, Fathimath Faruheeza and Hassan Shafeeu, were sworn in on Sunday.

Former Civil Court Judge Shafeeu and former Chief Magistrate of Seenu Atoll Feydhoo's court Faruheeza took their oath in a special ceremony held at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). Both judges were sworn in by Supreme Court Judge Dr Mohamed Ibrahim.

Faruheeza and Shafeeu were appointed for the two vacated seats on the High Court bench, following the resignation of Judge Shujau Usman and Judge Ali Hassan.

Both of these judges resigned while the judicial watchdog was conducting investigations into them over disciplinary issues.

With the new appointments, the High Court bench, consisting of 11 seats, has now been filled.
