Fenaka Corporation Limited has decided to offer 50 percent discounts from all electricity bills in Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi due to the escalating electricity problems in the island amid the month of Ramadan.

A press statement disclosed by the company on Monday night stated that they apologize for the many inconveniences faced by the people of Kulhudhuffushi due to the obstructions in facilitating uninterrupted electricity services to the island this Ramadan and assured that they are extending all essential efforts to bring forth a permanent solution to the issue.

Fenaka revealed that an 800 kilowatt generator has been transferred to the island and is presently undergoing its installation procedures while affirming that the electricity shortage will observe a temporary solution with the operation of this generator.

The statement further announced that Fenaka has settled on issuing a 50 percent discount from this month's electricity bill in order to assume full responsibility as the company fully empathizes with the inconveniences and distress faced by the people due to the difficulties faced in facilitating electricity services.

The company further asserted that they are making efforts to resolve the electricity issues observed by numerous islands across the country as a consequence of the company's neglect during the previous five years together with concerned institutions.

While seven generators are used to supply the island of Kulhudhuffushi with electricity, the island has been experiencing daily electricity interruptions across scheduled time intervals due to the heat causing the electricity load to exceed the maintainable amount and the generators failing to produce ample electricity to supply the entire island. The residents of the island have been strongly expressing their concerns due these scheduled power cuts.

Fenaka stated that a 1.2 megawatt generator is required to permanently resolve the electricity interruptions in the island and assured that the purchase of this generator has now been assigned.
