HDC defends Office Volley Championship trophy against MNDF

In a closely contested match at the HDC Volleyball Court in Hulhumalé yesterday, HDC secured a 3-2 victory in five sets.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has defeated the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in the final of the Office/Company Volleyball Championship 2024.

HDC, which competed under the name Club Urbanco last year, was rebranded in April and changed back to HDC in January of this year.

In a closely contested match at the HDC Volleyball Court in Hulhumalé yesterday, HDC secured a 3-2 victory in five sets. They won the first set 25-16, while MNDF took the second set 25-17. HDC edged ahead with a 27-25 win in the third set, but a fifth set was necessitated when MNDF claimed the fourth set 29-27. HDC won the final set 15-11 and claimed victory championship.

Ismail Sajidh of HDC was named Man of the Match and was also included in the tournament's Dream Team. Sajidh, who delivered outstanding performances throughout the competition, was honored as the best player of the tournament.

The Dream Team also featured HDC’s Ali Nimal and Mohamed Ahsan, Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO)’s Ali Huzam, MNDF’s Hussain Yoosuf and Hussain Razzan, and POLCO’s Mohamed Naeem.

HDC's Hussain Shareef was named as the best coach.

WAMCO, last year's runner-up, secured third place in this year's competition.
