The Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM), on Saturday, revealed an ongoing investigation concerning the dead body discovered off the coast of capital city Male'.
According to local media outlet Mihaaru, the victim's family submitted the case to HRCM and other relevant institutions in order as the body exhibited several injuries.
The body in question was found underwater in Malé City’s lagoon off the shore of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Friday morning.
Maldives Police Service revealed that efforts were underway to conduct a post mortem in order to ascertain the cause of death for the 31-year-old Maldivian male.
Furthermore, the police have requested any individual that visited Rasfannu Beach on Thursday, to come forward with any possible information concerning the circumstances of the death.
