The government has allocated MVR 500 million in this year's budget to increase the salaries of doctors, nurses and health workers.
While the decision to increase the salaries of health workers are underway, the salaries of teachers and principals was increased in May 2022.
With the new salary structure, a diploma level teacher will receive MVR 13,266, a degree level teacher MVR 19,467 and a master's level teacher MVR 20,895 as salaries. A rank 1 principal will receive MVR 30,610 and a rank 2 principal will receive MVR 33,075 as salaries.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier had announced that employees in the health sector will see a salary increment soon.
