A 30 year old woman from Thaa atoll Thimarafushi has been arrested in capital Male' City for assault with a sharp object and damaging property.
The woman has a prior record for similar crimes.
The Criminal Court placed her in remand in custody for a period of 15 days.
As per the court order, she claimed that she had gone to the scene of the incident to retrieve her phone, and denied having committed assault.
However, Police have submitted some evidence against her.
A Police Investigation Officer said in court that a paper cutter knife had been found in the woman's possession. They further said that she had damaged goods at the property.
The court order also highlighted that she has a past record of detention in similar cases.
She was earlier arrested for attacking a sales clerk in a phone shop in Male' with a blade. At the time, a psychological assessment had indicated that she needed in-patient treatment for drug rehabilitation.
However, as the Drug Court has not issued such an order, the National Drug Agency will not admit her into treatment.
