Italy's national airline, Italy Transporto Aereo (ITA) Airways will commence operations to Maldives in December.
According to an announcement made by the airline, the first flight from Rome, Italy to Velana International Airport will be held on December 17.
ITA is scheduled to operate flights to Maldives during peak tourist arrival period, between December of this year and March 2023. According to the schedule, ITA will operate flights to the Maldives from December 17 to March 26.
The airline said it is scheduled to operate three flights per week until January 22, 2023, after which it will reduce the number of flights to two per week.
ITA Airways was established when Italy's former national airline, Alitalia, went bankrupt. The state-backed ITA took over Alitalia operations on October 15, 2021.
