President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the "Judicial Year 2024".
The aim of the "Judicial Year 2024" inauguration was to determine goals expected to be reached within the year through the judiciary, as well as to reflect on what has been achieved during the past year.
The event also featured the awarding of commemorative plaques to individuals who have served in the judicial branch for over three decades.
The ceremony was held in Dharubaaruge on Thursday night. Along with the President and senior officials of his administration, Chief Justice Ahmed Muhthasim Adnan and senior members of the judiciary were present at the event.
During his speech, Chief Justice Muhthasim appealed to the State to organize an immediate solution to the multiple challenges faced by the Criminal Court due to being located in an old and easily weather-affected building. He said that criminal proceedings in the country have come to a halt now, and the adverse effects of this will be felt widely unless a prompt solution is found.
