Department of National Registration (DNR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dhiraagu to facilitate sharing of public information for the purpose of addressing the growing concern of scam calls and the purchase of fraudulent SIM cards.
According to DNR, the agreement outlines the procedures for both parties to exchange information concerning Maldivian nationals with Dhiraagu. Under this agreement, DNR will share public information it holds with the company.
DNR said that the authenticity of Dhiraagu services can be verified through its data, which will play a crucial role in preventing the escalating number of scam calls in the country.
DNR said that the agreement will additionally deter fraudulent SIM card purchases. Upon acquiring a SIM card or any Dhiraagu service, individuals' information will can be verified using the data provided by DNR.
