The Island Council of Makunudhoo announced that they will lease 32 plots of land for commercial purposes.
Haa Dhaalu atoll Makunudhoo Council announced yesterday that they will lease 32 plots of land to various businesses.
While the opportunity to submit bids was initially opened on March 14, the announcement was re-announced yesterday with some amendments.
According to the Makunudhoo Island Council, registration to submit bids are now open until March 31.
According to the announcement, the bidding process will be opened at the Makunudhoo Council Office on April 2 at 1100 hrs.
Businesses from 11 categories will be granted land plots. These categories are as follows:
- Two land plots for the construction of guest houses / for a period of 20 – 30 years
- Five land plots for industrial purposes / for a period of 10-15 years
- Six land plots for agriculture / for a period of 10-20 years
- Five land plots to operate cafés, restaurants or shops / for a period of 10-20 years
- Two land plots for water sports and dive centres / for a period of 20-30 years
- Two land plots for construction of rooms for rent / for a period of 10-20 years
- One land plot for construction of an accommodation block / for a period of 20-30 years
- Four land plots for construction of a boat yard / for a period of 10-15 years
- One land plot to establish a city hotel / for a period of 20-30 years
- One land plot for a poultry farm / for a period of 20-30 years
- Three land plots for ‘huifilanda’ (sea cucumber farming) work / for a period of 10-15 years
Makunudhoo Island Council stated that they will conduct a review of all land plots allocated for commercial purposes, excluding those leased for agricultural use. Additionally, all land plots will be subject to a two-month rent deposit, and 50 percent of the rent must be paid during the grace period.
