Chlorine spill in the Kinbivau area on the Futtaru side of Hithadhoo, Addu City has caused significant harm to marine life.
The area, which lacks a natural beach, has experienced numerous species of marine life washing ashore dead.
An official from the Addu City Nature Park told Mihaaru News that the issue was reported by a resident yesterday morning.

The official noted the severity of the situation, saying, "Various species have washed up dead on the beach all over the area."
The marine life affected includes octopuses, cuttlefish, crabs, eels, and various fish species.
Additionally, the reef in the area has suffered extensive damage, with visible bleaching due to chlorine contamination.
The incident has been reported to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maldives Police Service for further investigation, the official said.
