Maldivian students as representatives of the local Hajj Mission

Maldivian students pursuing their education in Saudi Arabia have been appointed as representatives of the local Hajj Mission this year.

For the very first time, Maldivian students studying in Saudi Arabia have been appointed as the representatives of the Maldivian Hajj Mission which has embarked on the journey to Mecca to perform the Islamic holy pilgrimage.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed preivously met with the Maldivian students in Saudi Arabia and assured them that such opportunities would be provided to them.

Islamic Ministry said that the practice of appointing Maldivian students in Saudia Arabia as representatives of the Hajj Mission will be continued from this year onwards.

This year Maldives received 1150 quotas for Hajj. The first group of 298 individuals who are to perform Hajj from Maldives this year departed on 31st May. The second group departed on 3rd June, which included a total of 353 people. The third group of 339 individuals flew to Saudi Arabia last Friday.

The 150 people who got the opportunity to perform Hajj this year on the extra quotas departed yesterday.
