High Commissioner of India to the Maldives G Balasubramaniam has paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel today.
Discussions at the meeting centered on further strengthening bilateral relations between Maldives and India, as well as exploring potential avenues for further cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.
Minister Khaleel expressed gratitude for the support that the Indian government continues to extend to the Maldives.
The High Commissioner assured his commitment towards working closely with the Maldivian government to continue building upon the close ties between the countries.
High Commissioner Balasubramaniam was preceded by former High Commissioner Munu Mahawar. Balasubramaniam was appointed last month at the end of Munu Mahawar's term in the Maldives. He presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on January 6.
Balasubramaniam has been working in foreign affairs in India since 1998. He previously served as Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria.
