Maldives Immigration has decided to take strict action against an expatriate for having angrily kicked an Immigration vehicle as he was being taken into custody for illegally conducting business in the country.

In a post on social media X, Immigration said that in the continuing special operations to identify and detain expatriates working illegally, a number of expatriates had been detained even last night. Four takeaway/cafe' outlets in Male' were searched last night, with six foreign men and one woman being taken into custody by Immigration.
"A cafe' being run by three of these foreigners has been shut down," Immigration said.
Among these is one expatriate who was detained for attempting to damage a vehicle owned by Immigration.
"Strict action in accordance with the Immigration Act will be taken against them," Immigration said.
An Immigration Official said that action is being taken against this individual for kicking at an Immigration vehicle out of anger.
In the special operations being run collaboratively by Immigration and Police, over 100 expatriates working illegally in the Male' area have been taken into custody. Immigration is currently working on deporting those detained.
