Both Maldivian teams won their opening matches at the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Beach Volleyball Championships.

Maldives faced off against Uzbekistan today during the tournament currently taking place in Bhutan.

Adam Naseem and Ismail Saajidh (Kuda Kaattey), who won a gold medal in 2022, faced the second pair from Uzbekistan. Maldives' second pair, Ahmed Mohamed (Koakey) and Mohamed Ali (Denzo), were matched against the first pair from Tajikistan.

Naseem and Saajidh's pair had secured their win against Uzbekistan with ease, closing the game in two straight sets with a score of 21-14, 21-6.

Although Mohamed and Ali's pair also won in two sets, the Tajikistan pair came very close to winning both sets. The first set ended with a score of 23-21, while the second set concluded 22-20.

CAVA, whose Chairman is Mohamed Latheef, President of the Maldives Volleyball Association, is a sub-federation of Asian volleyball for Southern and Central Asia.

CAVA has two categories; Group A and Group B. Group A consists of the highest-ranking countries in volleyball, which do not participate in the beach volleyball tournament.

These teams, however, will participate in the indoor tournament, which features separate competitions for both groups. While B category teams have the option to join the A tournament, A category teams are not allowed to participate in the B tournament.
