Local cop gets a chance to work for Interpol

For the first time, a Maldivian police officer has been given the opportunity to work for Interpol.

Police Comissioner Mohamed Hameed said in a tweet last night, that a Maldivian Chief Inspector has been given the opportunity to work in the Financial Crime Center at Interpol's headquarters.

Comissioner of Police stated that the officer was selected by Interpol for a three-year contract. Later this year, the officer is set to begin working at Interpol's headquarters in France.

He claimed that it demonstrates the nation's determination to stepping up its global efforts to combat crime, establishing Maldives Police Service in the international arena, developing the institutions capacity and capabilities.

He said it shows that Maldives is working to increase its efforts to prevent crime in different parts of the world.

International Police, or Interpol is an international organization that facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control established 99 years ago; comprising of 195 nations.
