STELCO has appealed to the public to be aware of scam calls being made under their name.
STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy shared a post on X stating that the company has become aware of these calls.
He assured that STELCO would at no time ask for personal details or banking details of any customer.
He advised customers to refrain from giving out any information and to contact STELCO through their official channels to ensure authenticity of communications with STELCO.
Scammers have previously made calls claiming to be from other State companies, including the Housing Development Corporation, through which they have stolen large amounts of money.
Police have earlier said that by July this year, more than 500 bank accounts have been blocked in relation to scam calls. Additionally, 782 device networks were blocked, and 297 SIM cards and 70 web links were also blocked.
