Two Maldivian swimmers, Mohamed Aan Hussain and Hamna Ahmed, have set additional national records at the ongoing 20th National Shortcourse Championships in Hungary.
Hamna completed the 200m backstroke event in 3 minutes 00.53 seconds, breaking the 2019 South Asian Games record set by Aishath Saajina, who completed it in 3 minutes 08.91 seconds.
Aan set three records. He renewed the national record in the short course 50m freestyle event with a time of 24.29 seconds at the Buda Cup last month, with a time of 23.79 seconds at the Hungary National Championships.
Additionally, Aan broke two records previously set by Mohamed Rihan Shiham at this year's AOSI Age Group Swimming Championships. In the 50m butterfly event, Aan surpassed Rihan's 27.06 seconds with a time of 26.67 seconds. He also bested Rihan’s 200m freestyle record of 2 minutes 03.06 seconds, finishing in 2 minutes 01.08 seconds.
