Tata SIA Airlines Limited operating as Vistara, the Indian full-service airline is gearing to launch direct flights between Malé New Delhi.
A press release from Vistara has confirmed the airline's preparations to commence scheduled flights between Malé and Delhi starting from October.
The Indian airline initally launched its direct flight operations to the Maldives on March 3, 2021 and operated scheduled flights between Malé and Mumbai.
Vistara said it was expanding direct flights to additional Indian destinations in light of growing demand for the Maldives among Indian travelers.
Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan conveyed his delight while speaking about the airline's decision to expand its range of destinations to include the Maldives. He said that direct flights connecting Malé and New Delhi will increase the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives from India's capital city.
The joint venture between India's Tata Sons conglomerate and Singapore Airlines (SIA), Vistara, is scheduled to commence its direct flights from Delhi to Malé on March 3, 2024.
While Vistara will be increasing tourist arrivals from India to the Maldives, the country is the second strongest tourist market right after Russia. So far in 2023, over 100,000 tourists have arrived in Maldives from India.
