Maldives recorded its first COVID related death on April 29, 2020.

The ongoing surge of COVID-19 positive cases has vastly increased the death rate, with 28 people passing away to date in May alone.

Authorities have tightened measure to curb the spread. This includes increased duration and extended curfew in addition to travel restrictions.
