Police have last night brought the body of Zakiyya Moosa to capital Male' City.
Zakiyya was discovered dead with wounds to her neck in her residence in Noonu atoll Holhudhoo yesterday.
A team of police investigators went to Holhudhoo yesterday, after which they brought the body to Male'.
A resident of Holhudhoo told Mihaaru News that the special investigative team had gone to the island late yesterday afternoon. At the time, Zakiyya's body had been at the island's Health Centre.
It is so far unclear if Zakiyya's body was brought to Male' to conduct a post mortem.
Police have not revealed details of Zakiyya's death so far.
However, Mihaaru News cites a resident of Holhudhoo as having shared with them that Zakiyya's body had been discovered by municipal workers who had gone to collect garbage from the house. She had been on the ground near a storeroom in the residence, with severe wounds on her neck, with a large knife lying next to her, they said.
Zakiyya is survived by her husband and two sons. One son lives in Male', while the other lives in the same house with his wife and child.
