Global travel site, Big 7 Travel, ranked the Maldives sixth in the 'World's Most Instagrammable Countries 2019'.
In a press release on Monday, Big 7 Travel revealed the Top 10 most "instagrammable" destinations, with Australia taking the title while Singapore brought up the rear:

4. Indonesia
5. South Africa
6. Maldives
7. India
8. United States of America
9. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
10. Singapore
The travel site stated that all the countries in the world were ranked in order of visual allure and social media popularity. The winners were chosen via a comprehensive scoring system that analysed the amount of hashtags per destination, survey results of Big 7 Media readers, and votes cast by a panel of travel experts.
Big 7 Travel also unveiled the '7 Most Instagrammable Spots in Maldives'. The list mainly comprised of luxury resorts across the archipelago, although the capital and Laamu Atoll also received high honours.

Big 7 Media, the parent company of Big 7 Travel, highlighted the increasing role of Instagram in planning holidays, noting that 67 percent of people surveyed have visited a new destination after seeing it on the popular social media platform, while 61 percent said they have booked a specific hotel after seeing it on their Instagram feed.
The travel site also noted that 33 percent of the people surveyed, research their upcoming holiday destination on Instagram, with Bucket List experiences and luxury hotels ranking as the most popular content on social media.
