Tuesday night saw a global outage of three major apps and websites: Facebook, Instagram and Messenger - all run by Meta. The outage was resolved, with users gaining access back to their accounts after a period of two hours.
Reports of being beginning to be auto-logged out of Facebook and Instagram and unable to log back in started being raised at first. Some users complained that they were unable to load the websites at all. Whatsapp messaging app, also run by the same company, appeared not to face any such issues.
Meta Spokesperson acknowledged the issues on social media, assuring users that the company was working on resolving the issues. Once the platforms were back up, the only explanation offered for the outage was 'a technical issue'.
The last time Meta platforms faced an outage was in 2021. That time, it took a couple of hours for Whatsapp and other social media platforms run by Meta to be recovered and back in operation.
