The former Secretary General of the Maldivian Red Crescent Society, Noora Mohamed, was appointed as the Inspector of Maldives Correctional Service on Sunday.
Noora holds a Master of Arts in International Development Studies at Thailand's Chulalongkorn University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Communication at Upper Iowa University in America.
She previously worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a project coordinator and manager, and also worked at the Society for Health Education (SHE).
The Inspector of Correctional Service is required to inspect conditions and procedures in detention centres as well as report to the Minister of Home Affairs concerning such matters.
The previous Inspector of Correctional Service, Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu, was recently appointed as the Commissioner of Prisons.
