The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced a large-scale inspection of all public service providers due to a spike in daily COVID-19 cases.
According to a statement by the agency, the inspection will be conducted with the assistance of Maldives Police Service to ensure whether establishments in the Greater Male’ region are adhering to the HPA guidelines.
Stressing that following the agency’s guidelines is the most important step to curb the spread of the virus, HPA warned that measures will be taken against establishments that operate in violation of the guidelines.
HPA further noted that cafés, restaurants, shops, markets, salons and fitness centres will be subject to the inspection, as well as vehicles providing public transport services.
However, HPA has yet to confirm the date at which the inspection will commence.
