The Ambassador of USA to Maldives, Alaina Teplitz paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Tuesday.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid and Ambassador Teplitz discussed ways to further strengthen existing bilateral ties between Maldives and the US.
Ambassador Teplitz also briefed Minister Shahid on US-led initiatives in Maldives, which focus on areas such as aviation security cooperation, public financial management and support towards institutional reform.
Minister Shahid expressed appreciation regarding the US government’s continued efforts to provide assistance to Maldives and reiterated his commitment to increase bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual concern.
Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shiuneen Rasheed as well as Thilmeeza Hussain, a nominee to become the Ambassador of Maldives to the US.
