National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday announced that there was a 4.71 percent increase in the rate of inflation in rent prices from April 2018 - April 2019.
According to the inflation reports released by the bureau, there was an inflation increment of 0.04 percent between March and April.
Rent inflation rate increased in capital city Male', with last month's rate at 0.05. However, there was no change in rates within the atolls.
According to yearly reports, Male's housing rent inflation rate increased by 4.93 percent. There remains no change in the inflation rate in the atolls within this timeframe.
Inflation rate increased in the entirety of Maldives within a year by 0.87 percent. While inflation rate increased by 2.12 percent in Male', the rate in the atolls increased by -0.24 percent.
The increase in inflation rate from March to April marks the first time that inflation spiked this year.
