The Democrats have met with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and deliberated on offering cooperation and support to the government.

Hassan Latheef spoke to Mihaaru News about this meeting that was held at the President's Office yesterday. He said that as the President has announced that amendments will be brought to the Constitution, The Democrats offered support to the government in those efforts.

In addition to this, Hassan said that the party had told the President that they wish to collaborate on economic and financial policies that align with their party policies.

He highlighted that there are persons with expertise in economic affairs and Constitutional amendments within The Democrats, and their assistance had been offered.

"There are experts in different fields, and we have said that we can offer assistance in those areas," Hassan said.

Hassan quoted the President as stating that he wished to work with the participation of The Democrats in those areas.

The Democrats had met with the President earlier as well, on December 20, 2023. Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, Hassan said then that deliberations had been held on political affairs.

The Democrats Vice President Mohamed Shifaz accompanied Hassan to yesterday's meeting.
