Terrorism charges have been pressed against the man accused of threatening on Twitter, to explode the Indian High Commission in Maldives.

Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) said the charges were being pressed against Mohamed Inad, aged 41, from Male'.

He was initially arrested on July 3 over this case.

If Inad is found guilty, he will receive a jail sentence of 4-6 years.

He was arrested after tweeting that he need RDX to explode the Indian High Commission in Maldives, in late June.

That account was later suspended.

Inad had contested within ruling party, Maldives Democratic Party's (MDP) inner primary so that he could contest in the Primary Election of 2019. His membership with MDP was terminated following the arrest and ongoing investigation over this case.
