COVID-19: Maldives records 145 new cases, 125 recoveries

The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced that 145 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives while 125 recovered from the disease.

According to the agency, of the new cases, 85 were from the greater Male’ region, 39 cases from residential islands, 19 cases from operational resorts and two cases from an industrial island.

Currently, the island nation records a total of 24,908 virus cases of which 3,059 are active cases, in addition to 21,773 recoveries and 67 deaths.

On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 133 million people and claimed over 2.87 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 107 million people have recovered.
