COVID-19: Maldives records 132 new cases, 134 recoveries

The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced that 132 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives while 134 recovered from the disease.

According to the agency, of the new cases, 67 were from the greater Male’ region, 45 cases from residential islands, 19 cases from operational resorts and one case from an industrial island.

Currently, the island nation records a total of 24,783 virus cases of which 3,061 are active cases, in addition to 21,646 recoveries and 67 deaths.

On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 131 million people and claimed over 2.86 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 106 million people have recovered.
