The first half saw numerous saves from Maldives' goalkeeper Hassan Mahil Naseer, with Bangladesh scoring their sole goal at 4 minutes into the second half from a ball sent out of the area.
Maldives caught up and scored their goal with just ten minutes remaining till full time, with team captain Mohamed Ilan Imran scoring.
Bangladesh did see other chances to score a goal after this, but were unable to follow through.
In the extra time, goalkeeper Mahil saved three goals shot by Bangladesh.
India, who won last year's Under-16 Championship, will also be playing in this group. Then, India had become champions through defeating Bangladesh in the finals.
In the first match of this group, India beat Bangladesh 1-0 on Friday, with a goal scored at the very last minute of the game. With this, India has secured their place in the semi-finals.
The remaining match in the group will be Tuesday , where Maldives will play against India. To reach the semi-finals, Maldives will need to secure at least one point.
