Local law enforcement authority has arrested one individual on suspicion of spraying "India Out" slogans on the cars of several cabinet ministers.

The vandal had sprayed the anti-Indian slogan in three of the cars used by the ministers which had included vehicles used by the Minister of Economic Development Mr. Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali and Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.

The graffiti vandalism was reported sometime around 07:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Though the vehicles were parked in a green zone near government office complex; Velaanaage, the security of the area was assigned to a third-party private security firm.

Maldives Police had attested that another vehicle parked in front of Maldives Parliament was vandalized as well.

Police said they were looking into both incidents to investigate if they were connected.

The anti-India campaign which in recent weeks has slowly intensified, is commandeered by the former Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen.

The "India Out" campaign is led by the opposition coalition consisting of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC).

The opposition alleges the current government has colluded with the Indian military forces to an alarming extent; which was endangering the safety and sovereignty of the island nation.

However, the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih led state administration denies these allegations.
