Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Friday.
Former President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed also met PM Modi earlier the same day.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi, India, Minister Shahid conveyed greetings on behalf of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the Maldivian people.
He also expressed gratitude for India's contribution in Maldives' development and guaranteed the island nation's cooperation in tackling issues in mutual areas.
Speaker Nasheed's discussions with PM Modi revolved mostly around environmental issues.
Nasheed is currently on a visit to neighbouring India with a delegation of MPs and Parliament staff, to sign an MoU with the Parliament of India, Lok Sabha.
In addition to increased cooperation, training programmes will be conducted for Parliament staff under this agreement.
