Forwarding the proposed dismissal of these members to the parliament's Permanent Committee is on the agenda for tomorrow's sitting.
According to the agenda, dismissals are proposed of Civil Service Commission President Mohamed Nasih, Anti Corruption Commission Vice President AbduSalaam, an additional member of the ACC, Elections Commission Vice President Ali Nashath, and two additional members of the EC.
The additional member from the ACC that is up for dismissal is Thoha Mohamed, Mihaaru News reports. The two other members of EC who are to be dismissed are Mohamed Asif and Dr Mohamed Zahir.
This work was initially commenced in last week's meeting of the Committee on Independent Institutions. As it is a sensitive matter, the meeting was held closed.
The members whose dismissal have been proposed in the current parliament, which has a ruling party supermajority, are all members who had been appointed by the previous parliament, of which majority had been held by now opposition Maldivian Democratic Party.
