The Maldivian Embassy in Thailand, on Thursday, hosted a virtual reception on the occasion of Maldives' 55th Independence Day, celebrated July 26.
The reception was attended by the ceremony's chief guest, the Director General of Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dusit Manapan.
During the celebrations, Maldivian Ambassador to Thailand Mohamed Jinah highlighted the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially within the field of trade.
He further conveyed appreciation to the government of Thailand and Thai businesses, for their assistance towards Maldives, on the road to recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Referring to Maldives' situation amid the global health crisis, Ambassador Jinah noted the dire need for foreign assistance from countries such as Thailand.
In addition to Director General Dusit Manapan, the reception was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, as well as various foreign dignitaries situated in Thailand
