Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has decided to review submissions for its monument design competition after allegations surfaced that the initial winners used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create their designs for monuments planned in Hulhumalé roundabouts aimed at easing traffic flow.

Submissions for the competition were opened in September, with the requirement of designing monuments for 17 areas. The theme of the competition was 'Dhivehinge Raajje [Maldivians' Maldives] and a cash prize of MVR 100,000 was offered for the best submission.
