Maldives Immigration has announced the days within the last third of Ramadan during which it will be open for service.
The last ten days of Ramadan have been declared as officially closed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and is declared to be so annually. However, essential service providers, such as Immigration, are making special arrangements to provide services in this duration.
In a statement released today, the announcement said that from day 20 of Ramadan, services will be available in office only on specific days.
However, passport applications will be accepted online around the clock.
Additionally, applications of senior citizens aged 65 and above, as well as of persons with special needs, will be accepted in the office between 09:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs.
Immigration services in Male' are scheduled to be available during the last third of Ramadan as follows:
- March 31 to April 4
- April 7 to April 9
One these days, tokens to issue passports can be taken between 09:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs. Passports will be issued between 09:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs.
In case of necessity to apply for a passport for emergency related travels, individuals can call 9555333 for immediate assistance.
As per the announcement, applications for visa, including work visa, can be submitted online between 10:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs. Visa services will be provided on four days within the last third of Ramadan: April 1, 3, 7 and 9.
- Passport submission seeking work visa (through appointments) : 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs
- Passport issuance for those seeking work visa (through appointments) : 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs
- Passport submission and issuance for those seeking visas in categories besides work visa : 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs
