HDC orders removal of huts placed in the Hulhumale' Phase 2 beach area

HDC has ordered civilians to remove the huts placed in the Hulhumale' Phase 2 beach area in order for the area to undergo further development. Phase 2 residents are presently proceeding small businesses inside these huts at the beach area.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has issued an order to remove the huts placed by civilians at the Hulhumale' Phase 2 beach area.

An announcement by the company stated that the orders to remove the huts by the end of May was issued in order to begin the necessary development works required for the area.

HDC warned that if the order is not complied during the given deadline, the company will remove the huts and clean the area themselves.

"We inform that the corporation will not assume responsibility for any damage to these materials during the clearing process," the announcement said.

While this order to remove the huts were issued, many civilians are conducting small businesses in these huts placed in the beach area adjacent to the Hiya Flats.

HDC revealed that there are many difficulties posed due to lack of established resources in the area as well as the current development phase it is in.

They asserted that there are also challenges in supervising the cleanliness of the area due to the method of its current use and therefore, will undergo further developments with established resources.

Some residents of Hiya Flats had previously proceeded short eats businesses in the space below their flats. However, they had relocated to the area near the beach after vacating the premises to allow additional developments at the time.
